Turmeric and its Golden Benefits

Turmeric, A golden coloured powder ground from the root of the turmeric plant. It is related to ginger family and a very common ingredient in curries. It has been used in India for centuries, but now its popular worldwide for its medicinal properties. Curcumin is a key ingredient in turmeric, which has powerful biological properties and health benefits.

Ayurvedic medicine, a traditional Indian system of treatment and Chinese medicine, recommends turmeric to treat a range of ailments affecting the blood, liver, chronic pain, inflammation, arthritis and treats bursitis. Turmeric is often used as a digestive aid and aid to strengthen the immune system in India.

Not only is it thought to provide pain relief, it's touted as a potential cure for heart diseases, mental health and even cancer. It has been promoted as an alternative or complementary treatment for cancer. Although, some of the research looks promising and but scientifically its not proven yet.

But from my personal experience, it does help with cancer treatment. My mother-in-law was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma, a form of blood cancer in 2017 and she's been taking turmeric since the first day. It helped and supported her chemotherapy treatment with a lesser side-affects and positive results in her health. When turmeric mixed with spices then it helps in absorption of curcumin in the body, thus it is really important to take it black pepper.

A healing mixture of turmeric and spices combined with warm milk, which is thought to harness the anti-inflammatory properties of turmeric to battle colds, cough and congestion. It is best brewed with milk and very relaxing before bed time.

Cosy up to a mug of this magical herb remedy, if you need a boost in the winter season.
