Tulsi (Ocimum tenuiflorum or Ocimum sanctum) popularly known as ”Queen of herbs” commonly known as holy basil. “Holy” because of its history of religious and spiritual significance. It’s a sacred herb of India. It comes in three varieties, Krishna, Rama and Vana.
Krishna Tulsi: It has the spicy aroma of cloves and sharp crisp flavors of pepper. These purple leaves and blossoms are widely grown in India at homes, as it’s a sacred herb.
Rama Tulsi:It is known for its clove-like aroma. It has a more cooling and mellow flavor than purple leaf tulsi.
Vana Tulsi:This one is rarely found. It has light green leaves and has more of a refreshing citrus aroma and flavor than its spicy sisters ;) Our tea blend, Tulsi Healing includes Vana Tulsi which makes it refreshing and calming.
Also, Tulsi has been used in Ayurveda for thousands of years. It’s a form of traditional Indian medicine and a natural herb with some magical benefits;
- Lower stress and blood sugar,
- Lower Cholesterol,
- Increases immunity,
- Natural detoxification - it is high in anti-oxidants and helps your body detox,
- It has antidepressant and anti-anxiety properties,
- Anti-inflammatory and antibacterial, it protects against infections, ease inflammation and joint pains.
And an ayurvedic remedy for a variety of common ailments.
